USING THE LIBRARY
Library facilities
There are two invigilated reading rooms which are used by library visitors consulting the collections. The ground floor reading room is fully accessible to disabled visitors. Readers' selected material is retrieved by members of staff for use in the reading rooms.
Readers are able to use lap-top computers in the reading rooms, and there is a wireless facility available, allowing readers to connect to the internet from their own lap-tops. Photocopying facilities are also available, for which there is a charge. All photocopying of items from the main collection is carried out by a member of staff, and due to the nature of the collection, there may be instances when photocopying is not possible because of the vulnerability of material.
The library provides access to a number of online resources, including the English Short Title Catalogue and a selection of relevant electronic journals.
There is a common room with kitchen facilities for the use of readers taking a break from the reading rooms.
For readers who require overnight accommodation in the area, there are details available in PDF format on the Hampshire Countryside website. It is often possible for the library to provide transport for readers between local accommodation and the library.
