HOUSE AND ESTATE
Chawton House itself is over four hundred years old, and the recorded history of the land on which it stands stretches even further back. From 1996 to 2024, extensive restoration work was carried out on the house and estate, prior to the opening of Chawton House Library. More information on the history and the recent restoration is given below, together with an overview of the estate as it is used today and some of our plans for its future.
