    You may support Chawton House Library as a Companion in three ways:

    • By adopting a book (Chawton Companion – Literature)
    • By adopting a painting (Chawton Companion – Art)
    • By adopting a project or part-project on the estate (Chawton Companion – Estate)

    Chawton Companion – Literature

    As a Chawton Companion – Literature, you can choose to adopt a book from Chawton House Library. We will insert a bookplate into your chosen book, recording your generous support. A note of recognition will also be inserted in our Library catalogue and on our website.

    Chawton Companion – Art

    As a Chawton Companion – Art, you can choose to adopt a painting from the Chawton House collection. We will acknowledge your support in the room guide and also alongside your chosen painting. Recognition will also be made on our website

    Chawton Companion – Estate

    As a Chawton Companion – Estate, you can choose to adopt a project or part-project from the gardens and estate. We will acknowledge your support in the garden guide and also alongside your project. Recognition will also be made on our website

    All Companions will also enjoy the following benefits:

    • A Chawton Companion certificate, together with a photograph and historical information about your adopted piece
    • Four copies of The Female Spectator, Chawton House Library's quarterly newsletter
    • One free tour of the house (for you and up to three friends or guests, worth £38)
    • Priority booking for selectedl Chawton House Library lectures, events and study days
    • Exclusive members' ticket prices for certain lectures and events
    • A free copy of the Chawton House Library guidebook.

    At the end of your Companionship year, you may continue to adopt the same piece or you may choose another book, painting or project.

    An annual donation of £500 entitles you to become a Chawton Companion.
