Chawton House, the Elizabethan manor house that once belonged to Jane Austen?s brother, has been restored to establish the new Centre for the Study of Early English Women?s Writing, 1600 - 1830. A registered charity, Chawton House Library and Study Centre provides an opportunity to study its collection of approx 9,000 books in the appropriate contextual setting.

We require a full time assistant gardener to work with the Head Gardener in all aspects of the restoration and enhancement of seven acres of gardens, including walled garden, set in 275 acres of parkland on an historic estate in Hampshire. We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and versatile team player with a full driving licence and demonstrable working knowledge and experience of: garden maintenance and plant knowledge; health and safety in the workplace; machinery operation and basic maintenance. You will work under the guidance of the Estate Manager and must be reliable and trustworthy with an eye for detail and a practical, flexible approach.
